The Jaguar brand quietly pulled the wraps off the 2018 Jaguar F-TYPE at the New York International Auto Show. We were surprised by the low-key presence. After all, this was the car that let the world know that the company hadn’t forgotten the lessons learned from its golden years. Now entering its fifth year, the Jaguar F-TYPE still has surprises in store for the drivers served by Jaguar Peabody.

The Jaguar F-TYPE follows in the footsteps of the legendary Jaguar E-TYPE, from its gorgeous looks to its exciting performance. When you get it this right, you make changes with a light hand. That’s exactly what we get here. Aside from re-styled air intakes and new LED headlights, the exterior was approached with a light hand.

Performance modifications come in unexpected places, starting with a front-facing stereo camera that lets us know active safety features like automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning are on the way. There are also new sport seats that are lighter and slimmer than before.

There’s also a limited-edition 400 SPORT trim in the offing. Look for a 400 hp engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and larger brakes for the 20-inch wheels.

Finally, there’s a new base trim with a four-cylinder Ingenium engine. With its lightweight and 296 hp / 295 lb.-ft. torque output, it goes from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. We expect the revised front suspension to make great use of the lighter weight and give excellent handling.

The new trim will shave only  a bit off the price of the model above it. The added fuel economy and great handling, rather than the base price, will be the draw here.

We invite you to your Jaguar dealership to find out more about our great new Jaguar cars.
